Overweight and Denied

Fri, 5 June - Sat, 6 June:
Theresa: Finally, our vacation has begun. We did get everything we need in two backpacks and two carry-on suitcases! Everything went smoothly until we checked in at Qantas in Los Angeles. There is a 7kg limit for carry-ons which means 14 pounds total for the both of us. Our suitcases weighed a total of 22.8 kg! Oops! So, we had to check in suitcases. The check in agent saw the distraught look on my face and said not to worry. Baggage claim would be quick and easy in Auckland, New Zealand because our flight was the only one landing at 4:45am in the morning!!

With a 5 hour layover in Los Angeles, we decided we would go have dinner outside of the airport. We went to our favorite eating spot in California...
In N Out Burger!

Clint: The flight to New Zealand was long (12+ hrs), but my medically-induced coma (complete with eye cover mask and ear plugs :D) made most of it go by very quickly. It got pretty rough over parts of the Pacific, but we arrived safely in Auckland at around 5AM local time on Sunday (1PM Saturday back home).

  4. Alex - Not just breakfast, but dinner too (2nd dinner for us)! Yes, there are several bathrooms on the plane, but they are very small. I used it several times when I had some motion sickness. Maybe that 2nd dinner was a bad idea?

Be sure to check out our latest post. It has a video of me jumping off a big building!
    See ya, CK
