Day 10 – Great Ocean Road – Koalas and Apostles

*We finally got reliable internet so pictures are updated for previous days. Go have a look!*

Clint: We awoke to Koalas sleeping in the trees above us! Theresa was thrilled and took pictures of each one. She doesn’t like pets, but I think she wants to take one home with us. We then continued on the Great Ocean Road. It is taking us a while since we stop every few miles for another great view of ocean, cliffs, and/or forests. We’ve already delayed our arrival in Adelaide by a day.

We did a couple hikes through the rain forests at Mait’s Rest and Otway Fly. Mait’s is a ground level walk and Otway is a treetop walk that is on steel boardwalks hundreds of feet above the forest which really gave us different perspective and a bit of acrophobia on the viewing tower at Otway.

Our final stop today was the Twelve Apostles at sunset. They are limestone “rock stacks” that remain in the ocean after the rock around them has been eroded away. Some have arches and caves. Catching it with the sun setting behind it was amazing to see. We’re spending another chilly night in the campervan, but Theresa has promised me some hotels in the next few days.
