Day 12 - Hiking the Grampians

Theresa - One thing that amazes me every night is how bright the stars are in the sky. Literally around 6PM, darkness seems to blanket Australia and the stars are your only source of light. Standing outside our room last night, Clint pointed out the Milky Way and several of the constellations. It made me wonder if the sky would look this beautiful if Atlanta didn't have "light pollution."
We woke us this morning to see kangaroos around the car. Apparently, kangaroos are teritorial and a group of them have made our hotel their home. They seemed adjust to humans as Clint was able to get some close ups with the camera. The owner of the hotel warned us to be careful driving around Halls Gap because the "roos have no road sense."
We began our morning hike by seeing the Grand Canyon. It was a rocky climb, but well worth the effort! As we were climbing to the peak, the Grampians were a huge wall on our left.

Next on our hike was to McKenzie Falls to see a waterfall that will eventually receded out of view. The hike was easy due to the man-made path. After we finished our hike, we use our newly learned camping skills to cook a bowl of soup and a can of Spaghetti-O's in the picnic area. The birds were all flocking in the trees above us waiting for a crumb to drop!

After lunch, we began our six hour journey to Adelaide. We've driven through the ocean and the mountains. Now, we're heading through the Outback.
