Day 3: Whitewater Rafting

The rafting company picked us up at 6:10 for a 2 hour drive to their location for breakfast and class 3/4 rafting in the Rio Picuare. During the drive, the guide was telling us they were watching the water level of the river very closely. The level was perfect right now, but if it gets any higher, we would have to switch to a different river. Apparently the Picaure has two narrow passages that would get dangerous if the water is too high. By the time we got to our destination, it was too high so we switched to Rio Reventazon.

We had so much fun rafting for 3 hours in the river. Not one drop of rain! Clint got to practice his Spanish with the guide and the other couple in our float. Ariadne and Theresa had to quickly learn Spanish commands to paddle forward, backwards, paddle harder, stop, and dive into the raft! As you can see below, during moments of strong rapids and rushed commands, Theresa and Ariadne were not in sync! Their goal was to not fall out of the raft! Luckily, Clint has a strong daughter who pulled him in when he was half dangling out during one of the raging rapids! During slow moments, we were able to see tiger herons, bats, monkeys, and sloths.

We were worn out after the 2 hour ride back so relaxed in the pool and cooked spaghetti for dinner.
