We had one full day in Monteverde before we head out. We woke up this morning to clear skies and a beautiful view of the top of the canopies with the Gulf of Nicoya and the Nicoya penninsula beyond.
We were going to Sevatura Park to walk in the clouds. Instead of hiking on the ground, we were walking across 8 hanging bridges to get an aerial view of the tropical rainforest from above the canopy in the clouds. The views were amazing and we even had a close encounter with a coati (a member of the racoon family native to the area).
We ate lunch at Taco Taco in Santa Elena and got ice cream at Heladeria Monteverde. We had fun trying to figure names of the ice creams. Ron? Cas? We bought some local gouda cheese to take back to our place to hopefully catch the sunset from our balcony!
We relaxed on our balcony and watched the clouds roll in and out of view. We were hoping it would not cover our sunset, but it did. It was still beautiful though.
After the sun set, we went to dinner at Tico Rico in Santa Elena. Ariadne and Theresa shared a yummy steak with plantanas madura. The plantanas were so delicious that we didn't realized we even ate the peel until the waiter pointed it out!
