Day 20: Father’s Day at Manuel Antonio

It literally rained all day yesterday, so it was nice to see the bright sun on Father’s Day! First we had a breakfast buffet!

Then we went to Playa Espadilla Norte across the street. The beach was beautiful, but there were a lot of people already there for 10am! We’ve been spoiled with empty beaches! Manuel Antonio is a popular tourist spot. There were rocks in the sand and the waves and current were strong. The current was so strong it would pull the rocks out of the sand and they would roll over your ankles!

For the 1st time, there were lifeguards patrolling the beach. Within 10 minutes of entering the water, Ariadne and Clint got the whistle blown! The lifeguard said they had swam out too far and the rip tides were very strong. We spent a few hours swimming only waist deep and walking along the beach watching surfers, parasailers, and even a rescue when boogey boarders got pulled out too far!

We returned to our hotel to finish out our Father’s Day. We spent the rest of the day eating pizza and fish fingers in the cabanas by the pool with yummy mixtos.
