We started off at the animal sanctuary which resembled a zoo. Diamante’s sanctuary is for animals who are hurt and cannot return to their natural habitat. Although we’ve seen sloths way high in trees on our hikes, it was nice to see their faces up close.
We went to the butterfly garden, saw lots of birds, and jaguars! We even saw a huge iguana roaming near the jungle course!
Next were the ziplines! Zip lining in Costa Rica was on our to do list and we saved it for Playa Hermosa! Diamante’s zip lines are automatic breaking using magnets. The only thing you use your hands for are to hold on since the zip lines go really fast!
Next we got in a truck and drove really high up the mountain. We would be “Superman”ing for a mile with the Pacific Coast in view! They strapped you in like a taco, laid you down on a platform, and threw you off! At first you’re scared, but the ride is so long, your racing heart calms down and you enjoy the view of the Pacific. Clint went first, Theresa next, and Ariadne last. Ariadne said she was laying on the platform forever and the guy told Ariadne, “You’re mama is stuck.” Apparently, Theresa didn’t weigh enough so she didn’t make it all the way in. They threw a magnetic rope out and reeled her in. They put extra weights on Ariadne’s back so she didn’t have any issues!
We did several other zip lines with our final zip in the animal sanctuary over a crocodile bridge.
We finished seeing all the animals and had a nice buffet lunch on site. After that we walked through a botanical garden to begin our cultural tour. We learned how coffee and chocolate were made and got to taste them. Ariadne crushed chocolate beans and even got to feed the animals on the farm!
We were exhausted so we just walked the beach at Diamanté and went home to go have dinner at Ginger.
