We were staying at the Fishing Bridge Campgrounds inside Yelllowstone Park. Fishing Bridge is a hard side RV only campground because bears frequent it so they do not allow soft tents or RVs. Theresa was excited because seeing a bear is on her must see list. She had been reading about all the wildlife encounters at the park and was excited to experience her own.
The ranger at the West entrance of Yellowstone told us if you see cars stopped or crowds of people, that means someone has spotted an animal. We were in the park no less than 15 minutes when there was a traffic jam. We didn't see what was happening until a bison started strolling towards us right down the middle of the road!
A few miles later, we encountered a herd of bison grazing right next to the road.
We stopped by to see the Fountain Painted Pot geyser and a few others.
Theresa's brother and parents were staying at Yellowstone's Lake Hotel which was about 2 miles from our campground. The yellow hotel was very elegant and the view of the lake was spectacular!
We joined them for dinner at the hotel to kick off our week together! They had rented a minivan so we would all tour together.
