Roughing it smoothly for us has been the nomadic lifestyle we have been living. We've been on the road for about 35 days. We drive anywhere from 3 to 6 hours at a time. We've gone through about 7 national parks. Thanks to Clint's coworkers who gave him a National Park pass, we haven't had to pay an entrance fee. Best gift ever! We haven't stayed in one place for more than 3-4 days. So that means we have to completely clear everything sitting out on tables and counters and store it away before we move. Our house on wheels (as Ariadne likes to call it), has everything we need. When we rough it, that means no hookups so we have to be conscience of the amount of water we use and a place to dump the stored dirty water. Be aware of the amount of gas we consume cooking and heating the RV.
We are taking a small break for a week before we hit our next set of National Parks. We found a private RV park in Sacramento to just "be" for 2 days. They had a swimming pool, wifi, and paved roads for Ariadne to ride her bike. Plus, they had free fresh eggs from their chickens every morning!
