Day 28: Vegas, Baby!

We woke up the next morning and noticed the campground had cleared out. We figured people were just trying to get a head start. We took our time. We cooked breakfast and let Ariadne bike up to the visitor center to get her badge. The weather was definitely a lot cooler than yesterday, but we didn't think anything of it. A light drizzle started as we were packing up. As Theresa was about to pull out of the site, the drizzle turned into sleet! What weather app did the other campers use to know to get out early? Weather Channel didn't even have a chance of snow on its forecast! The drive from Bryce to Vegas was extremely stressful for Theresa, and she wished she drove the tunnel and switchbacks. It either rained or snowed the whole way down the mountain. It was really windy so anytime you had an open gap between the mountains, the wind blew so hard the RV started swaying.

We were excited to be staying in Vegas for the night. Theresa was excited to be off the mountain. Ariadne was excited to be staying in a hotel. And thanks to Clint's gambling problems 😀, we got a free stay on the Strip through his Total Rewards membership! Clint was excited to meet up with some of his coworkers who happened to be there on a conference.

We parked the RV in the parking lot and made our way up to the Linq hotel. After checking in and dropping our stuff off, we decided to head to dinner...where else but In N Out Burger. After dinner, we watched the Volcano eruption at the Mirage and tried to catch the fountain show at the Bellagio (it didn't happen for some odd reason).

Ariadne loved walking the strip. Clint and Theresa are usually very strict with Ariadne's bedtime schedule. But we were in Vegas. Unlike the hikes we took, she did not complain once of being tired or wanting to be carried! She had seen Minnie, Mickey, Olaf, and a Minion down below on the Strip from our hotel room, so we made it a point to go by and see them. Bad mistake...we're in Vegas not Disney.  When we got to the location, Minnie's head was in her hand while the person was talking on her cell phone. The only costume Mickey had left on was his big feet as he was sitting on the curb smoking a cigarette. Ariadne turned to Theresa and said, "Mama, did you know a human is inside them? I knew they were not real!" Oops. She still enjoyed giving high 5's to Olaf and the Minion.

We love the RV, but it was so nice to be in a hotel room! You don't appreciate a good shower until you've showered with flip flops on, had a kid shower with you half the time, and had to tote all your stuff with you! Plus you can have as much water (especially hot) as you want.
