For our final day with the entire family (and the 15 man van), we made a day trip to Vung Tau, the closest beach to the city of Saigon. Due to traffic and very poor roads, it still took us 3 hours to get there. We rented a cabana for the group to give us some respite from the sun. The beach is sandy and similar to east coast beaches in the States, but there is a large amount of trash present, both from the nearby boats and the beachgoers. It's a shame that such a beautiful country is blemished in this way.
After several hours lounging, swimming, and eating fruit at the beach, we explored the town of Vung Tau. Lots of good coastal sites, including the ocean shot above and several large sculptures like the replica of the Jesus overlooking Rio de Janeiro.
After a good dinner in an open air restaurant in town, we made out back to Saigon and our final hotel for the trip: The Windsor Plaza Saigon.
