Day 13 - June 16 - Mui Ne

We hit the road again from Dalat headed for the popular tourist destination of Mui Ne Beach. On the way, we encountered some locals using the road for their own purposes. Our driver had to maneuver through no less than 3 heards of cattle and water buffalo.

Mui Ne is located in Vietnam's only desert. This makes for more mild weather (lower himidity), long beaches, and large sand dunes. We drove all morning before arriving at another seaside restaurant for a fresh seafood lunch. It sounds like we're doing a lot of driving, but the countryside scenery is really an attraction on its own. We've driven through forest, jungle, mountains, and above is the view we got as we summitted over a sand dune and saw the desert with the ocean below.

After lunch, we checked into the Pandanus Beach resort. It's a really nice resort with tons of amenities. It reminds us a bit of the Sandals resorts we've visited in the Caribbean, but our stay is really only for the afternoon as we're headed for Saigon early tomorrow. We decided to spend our afternoon on the beach to relax a bit before hitting the big city. The bay is crescent shaped and offers protection for the large number of boats that anchor there.
