We decided not to stay in Geneva, so we picked Montreux, a small city on the outskirts of Geneva. When we stepped out of the train station, we had a gorgeous view of the Swiss Alps!
We walked alongside the lake until we reached our apartment for the next 2 nights. After checking in, we bought groceries to cook in for the night. We ate outside on the balcony and watch the sunset over the Alps!
The next morning we got up and took the train into Lausanne. We heard that Lausanne was smaller and not as crowded as Geneva. It was still located along Lake Geneva. Lausanne is known for its steep hills. You definitely could feel the incline while you were walking! We finally reached the oldest cathedral in Switzerland, Lausanne. There’s still a watchman at the top of the Tower from 10PM to 2AM who yells out the time every hour!
We stopped and had cheese fondue for lunch! Then made our way to Place de la Palud to watch the animated clock on the hour.
After lunch we went to the Olympic Museum. It was interesting to see how the Olympic concept started and how much it has grown. We saw the medals from our hometown and well as participated in some interactive Olympic sports! Theresa and Ariadne did the 100 meter dash!
We ended our day in Lusanne with a ferryboat ride back to Montreux. We saw more gorgeous views of the Alps while we cruised on Lake Geneva.
