We packed up this morning in Copenhagen and began our long train journey back to Paris. The night trains were full back to Paris, so we decided to take a train to Hamburg Hauptbahnhof (the busiest rail station in Germany), spend the night, and then continue on the next morning to Paris.
After checking in to our hotel in Hamburg, we decided to go eat dinner at a German restaurant called Nagel. It was near the train station and highly recommended for good German food. The food was delicious! We tried the pork knuckle with sauerkrat. It was delicious!
After dinner we walked along the harbor in search of Franzbrotchen, a German pastry that is like a flattened croissant with sugar and cinnamon sprinkled on top. We did not find it along the harbor and ended up going back to the train station to find one there. It was good, but not the best dessert we've had!
The next morning we ate a delicious buffet breakfast at the hotel before heading back to the train station for our eight hour journey to Paris.
Three Kings, three carry-ons, and two backpacks were getting on their last long distance train after thirty-three days in Europe. The train ride was long, but it we filled it watching shows, playing cards, trying to learn how to play cat's cradle with a nice older lady sitting with us, and sleeping.
We arrived back at the Cordners' just in time to watch the semi-finals of the Women's World Cup. United States played England and won 2-1. We also enjoyed eating Jen's homemade lasagna!
