Day 29 -31: Copenhagen, Denmark

We were very excited about our journey to Copenhagen. We took a train that road up onto a ferry boat! Then we got ferried across the Baltic Sea and continued on our train to Copenhagen. Due to some construction on our rail tracks in Copenhagen, we did have to take a bus our last 2 hours. It was a unique experience to know your train tracks literally run onto a boat!  We got to leave the train and go on deck to get some ocean views!

After our adventure of train, boat, and bus, we arrived at our Airbnb apartment. We needed to do laundry and wanted to cook in. Since it was late, we just ate at Wada Salad close by for dinner. It doesn't get dark in Copenhagen until around 10:30 and the sun rises around 4AM!!

The next morning we went grocery shopping and spent some time mapping out our itinerary for the next two days. We decided to go to Faelledparken in Ostebro which was a huge play park. It had a cycling park  where the kids can ride on fake streets, trampolines, swings, and a splash pad.

Our last full day in Copenhagen was going to be packed full of activities. First we walked to Kastellet Fort that still has some military uses despite being a public park.

Then we walked to the harbor and took a water taxi to get a view of the city from the water.

After a picnic lunch in the harbor, we met up with our guide for a bike tour around the city. We learned about the statue of the Little Mermaid, the trash incinerator that was used as a ski slope in the Winter, and the Danish Royal family palace. We ended the tour at the most famous street in Copenhagen called Nyhaven.

We thought the Mediterranean was cold until we went swimming in the Baltic Sea! Back at Island Brygge Harbor, we swam and jumped off the huge diving platform into the frigid sea.

After a quick and early dinner at the apartment, we went to Ariadne's favorite place in Europe, Tivoli Gardens! It is an amusement park in the middle of the city!

Despite eating breakfast and having an early train out to Hamburg, we had to get an open faced smorrebrod sandwich at Ida Davidsen, a fifth generation restaurant
