We drove along Lake Superior again to get to Pictured Rocks. Picture Rocks in known for its sandstone cliffs.
Miners Castle below is one of the famous sandstone formations at the park. Miners Castle had two turrets at the top, but in 2006, one of the turrets fell.
After Pictured Rocks, we drove to our campsite, Castle Rock, in St. Ignace on Lake Huron. We had a lakefront site. The water was 40 degrees so we couldn't go swimming, but Ariadne enjoyed the playground on the beach and chasing the seagulls.
The next morning we took a ferry ride to Mackinac Island. The island is between the upper and lower Pennisula of Michigan. The only way to get to the island was by boat. No cars were allowed on the island. You could either walk, bike, or ride a horse!
The top attraction on the island was the horse drawn carriage tour that was a 2 hour ride around the island. Ariadne was thrilled to go on a carriage ride and chose to ride right up front. Yep, front row, right behind the horses' behind!
The tour dropped us off at the Butterfly house.
Then we had a quick stop at the Arch Rock which was a limestone formation. According to the guide, the Arch is predicted to collapse in 30 years.
Our next stop was the Grand Hotel. It has the longest porch in the world.
The next morning we took the RV across the bridge! The suspension bridge is the division of Lake Huron and Lake Michigan.
