Day 3-5 Davis Bayou, Ocean Springs, Mississippi

Our next stop was Davis Bayou State Park in Mississippi. The state park is near a saltwater marsh and had great hiking trails and wildlife. When we arrived at the park, the ranger told Theresa the campsites were full. But after seeing Ariadne's cute face and our "small" RV, he said he could squeeze us in one space. This should of been our first hint that we need to plan our stays a little bit better!

We parked our RV and went for a long bike ride to the Visitor Center. We put Ariadne's training wheels back on her bike (Thank Goodness!) so she could independently bike with us! We made it to the visitor center but it was closed. However they had an observation deck in th back so we were able to enjoy the views of the water and a few animals.

The next morning we set off for the beach! Since we didn't tow a car, we have to rely on our bikes. Theresa loaded up the bike trailer with towels, umbrella, snacks, water, toys, and Ariadne. Even with the weight of a kid and beach gear, Clint could still out bike Theresa and had no problems biking uphill! We saw and saved a few turtles in the road.

The beach was not busy and we found a spot close to the water. You could see Biloux in the background and a huge playground across the street! Clint and Ariadne enjoyed swimming in the cold ocean while Theresa watched from the shore in the warm of the sun!

Clint found a seafood restaurant we biked to for lunch called Off the Hook. The grilled seafood platter was delicious! On the way home, Theresa clipped the bike trailer and was sprawled out on a busy road. Besides hurt pride (cars stopped to ask if she was ok), she "biked" away with a scraped hand and a bruised knee and shin.

We had planned to head to Texas the next morning, but saw a stormy forecast, so we decided to stay an extra day in Mississippi! We attempted the beach but it was very windy and overcast. So we biked to the Nature Center to learn more about Davis Bayou. On the way back, we saw a baby alligator and a huge alligator sunbathing on the banks.
