Day 1-2 Eufala, Alabama

We left Atlanta around noon after spending all night packing the RV. Hope we didn't leave anything important behind! Our first destination was 3 hours away in Eufala, Alabama. We figured we'd test out our RVing skills there. If anything went wrong, 3 hours back home wouldn't be a big deal!

Theresa drove the RV for the first time. Getting out of the neighborhood on narrow streets was very stressful.  Besides getting a major horn honking for pulling out in front of someone and swiping some tree branches hanging out on the side of the road, we arrived in Alabama safely!

Lakepoint State Park in Eufala is very special to us. Granny and PopPop (Clint's grandparents) camped here every Spring! We used to come visit them in college and many years after that! We always said we hoped we would be doing this when we get older. And... here we are! We even got a campsite on Deer Court where Granny and Pop always stayed!

The learning curve on the RV is huge, but hopefully things will get easier. We hooked up our electricity, water, and sewer without any issues! When we tried to push our slide out, it didn't move! After a little researching and a quick phone call to Good Sam (an RV discount club), Clint found out that we needed to have the RV running for the slide! Oops! Also the water pressure was too low for any of us to use the shower, so we all showered at the bathhouse. Ariadne enjoyed it and compared it to rinsing off at the beach showers except she didn't have to have any clothes on! In the morning, Clint changed out the water filter and we had excellent water pressure. We did lose a small o-ring on the filter (it seals the filter and keeps water from spewing out) which after much searching in the grass we found!

For breakfast the next morning, Clint fried up some eggs on the griddle (we didn't have room to pack a portable grill). We had a picnic breakfast outside. We told Ariadne she needed to name the RV. She named it "Hungry." It's a perfect name for the traveling 3 Kings who all love to eat and pretty much have food on their minds!

We spent the day biking, swinging, and relaxing at the lake. Ariadne enjoyed biking on the paved roads in the campground so much she asked us to remove her training wheels! Clint remembers his dad holding on to the back of his shirt. Theresa remembers her dad holding the back of the seat. We appreciate our fathers very much because our backs hurt that night from running hunched over! Wish we could say Ariadne learned to bike without training wheels. Oh well, we all have something to learn on this trip!

Theresa made her first meal on the RV tonight (we had leftovers last night). Prepping and cooking in tight quarters will take a bit of practice, but our tofu stir fry was delicious!
