Day 98-100: ACE Adventure Resort, Oak Hill, WV

One of the few stops we planned out before leaving on this trip was a meeting with our good friends, the Crabbs, at ACE Adventure Resort in West Virginia for July 4. As the name implies, it is a large property full of outdoor activities, including rafting, climbing, hiking, and biking. It seemed like a perfect fit for their 5 boys and our little one had become quite the adventurer herself by this point. They rented a cabin right next to the RV hook ups so it was very convenient.

We arrived mid day on the 4th and were excited to see our first familiar faces since we said good bye to Theresa's parents on Memorial Day. Ariadne especially liked playing with the boys in the hot tub and walking their small dog. We celebrated Independence Day with sparklers and our own fireworks before heading down to the lake for the resort show. The lack of wind caused the smoke to obscure some of the show, but it was fun nonetheless.

The next day the Crabbs had a rafting trip planned, but Ariadne was too young/short so we opted for some rock climbing and mini golf instead. Ariadne and Theresa were natural climbers though they didn't enjoy the thrill too much. Clint thought it was fun, but had trouble toting 200lbs around the rock wall!
On the last day, Ariadne stayed with our friends while Clint and Theresa got a rafting trip in. There were a couple of exciting rapids, but our entire raft stayed aboard unless we jumped out. Our remaining time was spent at the water park, where Ariadne did the very high lake zip line and Clint bounced Theresa on the jumpy pillow into the lake!
